Building Physics: Turning data into better buildings

28 May 2026

At IN2, one of the most unique assets in our tool kit is our Building Physics Team.

Building Physics is central to how we design high-performing, future-ready buildings. Using advanced environmental modelling and simulation, we analyse how buildings interact with climate, occupants, and building systems, before they are built and throughout operation.

By integrating modelling early in every project, our specialists help design teams:
- Understand real building performance
- Optimise building systems
- Improve occupant comfort
- Reduce operational energy demand
- Support evidence-based design decisions

Using tools such as Dynamic Simulation Modelling (DSM), and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), we ensure thermal comfort, ventilation effectiveness, limit solar gains, reduce energy demand, and ensure good indoor environmental quality.

This modelling-led approach allows us to design around real performance outcomes, not rule-of-thumb assumptions.
