Electrical infrastructure upgrades
Electrification, on-site generation, EV charging, data demands and renewable integration all add load to electrical systems designed for a different era. Without a structured assessment and upgrade programme, existing infrastructure becomes a constraint on everything else.
IN2 reviews HV and MV electrical infrastructure and designs upgrades to support increased capacity, regulatory compliance and long-term operational reliability. Our assessments cover the full electrical system, and upgrade designs are developed with the constraints of live, operational environments in mind.

Resilience and energy security
Upgrading energy infrastructure in a live environment, particularly in healthcare, carries genuine operational risk. Systems need to keep running while the work gets done, and any strategy that compromises continuity is not a viable one.
IN2 assesses energy infrastructure resilience and develops strategies that protect critical operations through redundancy, backup systems and flexible energy design. We design temporary and permanent solutions that keep live environments operating while outdated infrastructure is replaced or upgraded, and we plan ahead for the resilience implications of future decarbonisation programmes.

District heating design
Heat networks are technically demanding to design and deliver well. CP1 compliance is the industry benchmark, and the margin for error in hydraulic design, HIU selection and metering is narrow.
IN2 is one of a small number of firms in Ireland and the UK with CIBSE CP1-qualified heat network expertise. Several registered Heat Network Consultants (HNCs) are distributed across the IN2 group. Our technical scope covers the full network: energy centre and substation design, primary and secondary pipe sizing, hydraulic modelling, HIU selection, metering and billing, renewable integration and waste heat reuse.

Electrical network studies
Before significant infrastructure changes, the evidence base needs to be right. Load flow, fault level and capacity studies are the foundation for safe electrical design and regulatory submissions. Missed or underestimated issues at this stage create cost and programme risk later.
IN2 undertakes detailed electrical network studies to assess system performance and safety, providing the technical evidence needed to design confidently and submit compliantly.

Utilities applications
Utility application delays are a consistent source of programme risk. Applications that are late, incomplete or technically inaccurate create knock-on effects across procurement and construction programmes.
IN2 provides technical input and coordination for utility applications, supporting engagement with network operators and regulators throughout the process. Early, accurate applications protect your programme and reduce the likelihood of costly delays at connection.
