Electrical Network Studies

Detailed electrical network studies that verify system performance, establish safe operating limits and support grid connection and infrastructure decisions.

Electrical network studies are required whenever a change in load, generation or network configuration needs to be assessed before it is implemented. That includes connecting new equipment to an existing HV or LV network, applying for a grid connection, adding distributed generation such as solar PV, heat pumps or battery storage, or verifying that existing infrastructure can safely support increased demand.

IN2 carries out load flow, fault level and protection coordination studies using industry-standard power system analysis software. The outputs are used to validate designs, inform protection device selection and settings, support network operator applications, and demonstrate compliance with grid code and connection agreement requirements.

In retrofit and deep decarbonisation projects, network studies are often the first step: establishing what the existing electrical infrastructure can support before committing to a technology or system specification.
