IN2 Engineering announces leadership evolution to drive next phase of international growth

IN2 Engineering has announced a significant evolution in its leadership structure, marking an exciting new chapter in the company’s twenty-year plus growth journey.

As part of a long-term strategic plan, aligned with its ambition for continued expansion, founder and former Managing Director Barry Flynn has stepped up to the role of Chief Executive Officer, while James Redmond has been appointed as Managing Director.

 

This leadership progression comes at a pivotal time for IN2 Engineering, following the recent launch of its refreshed brand and new website, reinforcing its position in the industry as a leading international building services and engineering consultancy. 

CEO appointment

Speaking today on the appointment, Barry said, “This is a natural evolution for IN2 as we position the business for its next phase of growth across Europe. Our new brand and new roles reflect our ambition to innovate, not just through the sustainable solutions we deliver for our clients, but in how we structure and lead the business. I’m excited to be able to fully focus on driving long-term success for our clients.” 

 

 

In his role as CEO, Barry will guide IN2’s international growth through focussing on business development and commercial strategy with an oversight on client relations. A key priority will be increasing IN2’s market presence across strategic sectors such as Energy & Infrastructure and Data Centres.

Top-level appointments

James Redmond moves to role of Managing Director, expanding his remit to overseeing operational performance and delivery excellence across the international group. James brings a proven track record in operational leadership and target delivery. His appointment further strengthens IN2’s ability to scale while maintaining the technical excellence and people-first culture that has defined the company since its founding in 2002.

 

Another high-level appointment is David Walshe, founding partner of IN2, who has been appointed as Director of Innovation and Development. In this role, David will continue to take ownership of the IN2 Academy, as well as take on the additional responsibilities of overseeing engineering innovation across the company and leading staff training and development.

Other leadership roles to drive next phase of international growth

Other strategic appointments across the business include the appointment of long-standing Associate Directors, Shane O’Brien and William O’Donnell, to Directors further strengthen IN2 Engineering’s senior leadership team. As well as levelling up leadership roles internally, the company welcomes Robert Tully as Chief Financial Officer and Simon Sloan as Director of Belfast Operations. 

 

William O’Donnell’s appointment to the role of Director of the Building Physics team highlights IN2’s expertise and investment in Computational Fluid Dynamics, Building Physics and Dynamic Simulation Modelling; a rarity in the engineering landscape of Ireland that showcases IN2’s ingenuity, technical depth, and a commitment to innovation and sustainable design excellence. 

With a strengthened leadership structure, renewed brand identity, and clear growth strategy, IN2 Engineering is well positioned to deliver on its ambitions for the years ahead.
