IN2 designs on-site generation solutions including solar PV and battery storage, aligned with operational needs and commercial viability.
On-site generation reduces grid reliance, cuts energy costs and supports decarbonisation commitments. The right solution depends on the site, the load profile and the available roof or ground area — and getting that assessment right before committing to a technology is where the value of early engineering input is most significant.
IN2 carries out feasibility studies to establish which technologies are viable for a given site, models expected yield and financial return, and designs the generation and storage systems through to detailed specification and grid connection. Our work covers solar PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and the electrical infrastructure required to integrate generation with the building's existing supply.
Where export to the grid is part of the business case, we manage the connection agreement and export tariff application with the network operator. In the UK, exported energy is eligible for payment under the Smart Export Guarantee. In Ireland, the Microgeneration Support Scheme and Clean Export Guarantee provide equivalent support for qualifying installations.
Battery storage is increasingly specified alongside solar PV to shift generation to periods of peak demand, reduce import charges and provide short-term resilience during grid interruptions. IN2 designs BESS systems that are properly integrated with the building's protection and controls infrastructure, not simply bolted on.
