About the project
Completed in 2024, IN2 was appointed to complete M&E and Environmental design services for the Craughwell National School.
This project involved the development of a new two-storey extension to the existing main building to provide a further 8 classrooms, a general-purpose sports hall, a multipurpose room, administration offices, and the Principal’s office. The project also included the reconfiguration of vehicular access including roundabout and pedestrian access gate, and pedestrian access pathways within the site.
The design philosophy was to deliver highly effective building services and environmental design solutions in harmony with the Client’s requirements and the architect’s vision. The objectives were to provide energy efficient solutions which resulted in lower energy costs and reduce carbon emissions to the atmosphere.
Extensive Daylight & Sunlight analysis was completed by IN2's Building Physics team to maximise available daylight. The results of the Daylight/Sunlight modelling informed the architects in the final arrangement of the classrooms and the facades including window aperture sizing and positioning.
