Extending Leitrim’s Technology & Enterprise Centre for its smart office concept

About the project

The Hive is Leitrim’s Technology & Enterprise Centre. It is a well-established and successful Hub operating in Carrick-on Shannon.

IN2 were appointed to provide M&E building services design for a new build extension to the Hive. The extension (280-460m2) is to provide additional hot desks, offices, meeting rooms and parking spaces. It is intended that a greater emphasis would be placed on open plan office space for this phase. The extension would increase the area available for occupation by approximately 30-50% (from 929m2).

As part of the 464m2 extension include, there will be 20 additional hot desks facilities (mix of long and short term), an office capacity increase of approx 17 to open up the layout, one small meeting room, one large meeting room, and 50 additional parking spaces. The extension incorporated and complemented the existing functionality and mechanical and electrical elements of the building.

This is not the first time that IN2 has contributed to what The Hive is today; IN2 previously worked on the Hive Enterprise Hub prior to official opening in 2013. As part of our service, we offered design services for natural ventilation and sunlight/daylight analysis for workspaces and set a vision for how this smart office hub could work on a daily basis.
