  • This replacement of the main electrical switchboard required detailed coordination and astute planning

    About the project

This project involved the replacement of the main electrical switchboard which serves the existing Main Institute Building at TUS. The original switchgear dated from the original 1970’s building construction and was connected to the campus main electrical distribution system via parallel cables which had developed a fault.

In addition, the condition of the main electrical switchboard was determined as having reached end-of-life with some parts no longer being serviceable.

The scope of the project included the design and provision of a new electrical main switchboard together with new mains cabling to connect to the campus main electrical network.

IN2’s works included surveying of the existing switchboard, sub-mains cables and designing a new electrical installation that could be installed whilst minimising disruption to the Main Institute Building operations which is critical in the operation of the overall campus. The new main switchboard was designed to include energy metering of all connected sub-distribution centres, which was connected to the campus energy monitoring system.
