Facilitating the completion of all mechanical & electrical services within a short timeframe
About the project
This project involved the fit-out of an existing Gymnasium to create new Student Medical Health and Counselling facility within the Athlone campus of Technical University of the Shannon (formerly AIT). Works began with the strip-out of the large open plan gymnasium and changing areas/showers on the first floor of the John Count McCormack Hall above the Student Union Bar and kitchen on the Athlone Institute of Technology live campus.
As Technical Advisor for the client, IN2 was responsible for the completion of the mechanical and electrical services design drawings and specification. Works were completed within a short timeframe to the minimum budget during summer months to support the academic cycle of 2020/21.
The 222m2 area was then refurbished and fitted out to create two new college facilities, a Student Health Centre, and a Student Counselling facility. Completed in 2021, the new health centre is comprised of four medical consultation rooms and ancillary support spaces and stores whilst the Student Counselling facility holds five consultation rooms and support spaces, physiotherapy room, a main reception, waiting area and toilets for staff and students.
