Client Global Co-Location Data Centre
Location Dublin
An ambitious new-build data centre that required detailed forward planning and fulfillment of strict industry standards
About the project
This project involved the construction of a new-build data centre. It is housed at an existing redundant warehouse complex within a brownfield site in Dublin.
It was a challenge to integrate the new data centre into the client’s existing facility located nearby as it required seamless integration with no disruption to the existing occupants of the nearby data halls.
It was decided early-on that IN2 teams would utilise BIM for the design and construction of the building. The client required a design-and-build model that could be constructed within their budget, delivered to Tier 3 industry requirements, and used as co-location space for various clients.
Early engagement required close liaison with the utility provider, the addition of a 2km MV line, and the construction of a new substation to serve the facility. The client’s design team issued a high level requirement brief and our design team created a project-specific design to meet the client needs whilst also fulfilling industry Tier 3 conditions. Forward planning was a key requirement to meet long lead plant and equipment provisions.
IST testing validated the Tier 3 industry certification prior to project completion and handover.
