Effective project management and design coordination of a new data centre in Scandanavia
About the project
IN2's staff were appointed as Project Managers to oversee the design and contract facets of a New Build Hyperscale Data Centre for a major global client.
The project was challenging in many aspects, not least due to the location and lack of available local contractors and suppliers. The worldwide supply chain was leveraged to maximum effect during the design phase of the project.
The area assigned to the new data centre was a greenfield site which utilised freecooling from the available local ambient resources for added optimisation.
The client's requirements were to construct the data halls in as short a timeframe as possible. This was achieved by looking at fast-track construction solutions, particularly in the area of off-site fabrication, with a view to minimising onsite installation time. Project management teams decided on a collaborative approach that included pre-design workshops involving the architectural, MEP design team and contractors. Offsite testing and witnessing was also played an essential role in getting the project completed to a very high standard.
The Project was achieved to programme and budget a safe environment within which the client has continued to build using the same model of design and construction.
