Ensuring a reliable cooling strategy in Doha's extreme desert landscape

IN2 Engineering was commissioned to undertake the design of the new 20 No. cabinet ExxonMobil IT Data Centre in Doha, Qatar. Specifically, this involved predicting temperature and relative humidity performance of the proposed Comms Room Air Conditioning (CRAC) Units.
Despite the installed cooling having sufficient capacity to cool to low temperatures, the existing Data Centre was experiencing major issues with relative humidity in the extreme environment of Doha. IN2 Engineering’s analysis identified that the low temperature operation was causing issues of high relative humidity and presented a solution to operate the Data Centre at more moderate temperatures. This would solve both solve humidity issues and enable significant energy cost savings.
